RIAD STAR HISTORY

The Riad is attached to a Palace that is now the Marrakech Museum, for many years it was used to accommodate distinguished guests. Josephine Baker lived here in the early1940′s at the invitation of the Pashah of Marrakech, Thami El Glaui.

Following a painstaking renovation Riad Star now continues that tradition of hospitality as a boutique Riad hotel with just thirteen guest rooms.

Riad Star blends traditional Moroccan style with Art Deco and modern elements. Original Cedar woodwork, exquisite hand carved plaster and a host of other features have all been retained while discretely incorporating airconditioning, Wifi, power showers and other creature comforts.

British owners Lucie and Mike Wood are passionate about sharing Josephines vision of the potential of the worlds peoples to live together in harmony. There is no better place to appreciate diverse cultures than Marrakech, an ancient trading post which sits at the intersection between Europe, the Arab world and Sub Saharan Africa.

Continuing a tradition of hospitality

While furnished with antiques and memorabilia Riad Star is not at all stuffy, above all this is a playful and FUN place to stay. You will be taken care of by a dedicated local staff who provide a complete concierge service including the loan of a local pay-as-you-go phone to stay in touch as you explore.

For special occasions we can arrange fabulous banquets with musicians, or dancers to ensure a memorable celebration.
